About Us

Our Story

We publish narrative nonfiction and memoir within the adoption constellation, NPE (not parent expected/non-paternity event), and donor conceived communities, focusing on authentic voices from adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, NPEs, and donor conceived individuals. Our primary genre is memoir/autobiography, with some titles that also intersect with social justice, family studies, and narrative nonfiction.

We specialize in stories that challenge mainstream narratives about family formation and center the lived experiences of those directly impacted by adoption, unexpected parentage, and donor conception.

Our Readers

  • Adoption constellation members (adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents), NPEs, and donor conceived individuals who seek honest, complex narratives that reflect their own experiences
  • Advocacy organizations working on adoption reform, donor conceived rights, and DNA/identity disclosure issues
  • Policymakers and legislators considering adoption reform, access to original birth certificates, donor anonymity laws, and family transparency legislation
  • Social workers, therapists, and family formation professionals seeking ethical, trauma-informed perspectives on identity, genealogical bewilderment, and family secrets
  • Educators and students in social work, psychology, genetic counseling, and family studies programs
  • Book clubs and reading groups focused on social justice, family issues, identity, and memoir
  • Librarians building diverse collections that represent marginalized voices and complex family narratives
